What actually counts as an electrical emergency?
Anything you can smell burning, anything sparking, water sitting near your panel, or your whole home losing power. A breaker that refuses to stay switched on belongs on that list too. When you are unsure, call us and we will tell you honestly whether it can wait until morning.
How fast can you get to my house?
For homes around Delta, Ladner, and Tsawwassen we are often there within a couple of hours, and you get a real time window when you call rather than a vague promise. If we are stuck further out, we say so instead of leaving you watching the driveway.
Do you come out at night and on weekends?
We do. Wiring picks its own moment to fail, and it is rarely during office hours, so we take emergency calls in the evenings and over the weekend for the areas we cover.
What should I do before you arrive?
Switch off the breaker feeding the problem area if you can reach it safely, and keep everyone away from the outlet or panel that is playing up. Leave a wet panel completely alone. We walk you through all of this on the phone while we are on our way.
My power is out. Is it my house or the whole street?
Look out the window at your neighbours. If their lights are on and yours are off, the fault is on your side of the meter and we can fix it. If the whole street sits in the dark, that one belongs to BC Hydro.
Why does my breaker keep tripping?
A breaker cuts your power when a circuit is pulling more than it was built for, or when two wires are touching somewhere they should not. Both of those need a proper look. Flipping it back on again and again only hides the reason it happened.
There is a burning smell near an outlet. What do I do?
Turn off the breaker for that room and stop using it completely. That smell is hot plastic, which tells you a connection is running far hotter than it should be. Call us and we will come out and open it up the same day.
Will you have to cut into my walls?
Usually not. We test from the outlets and the panel to narrow down exactly where the fault is sitting, so if we do need to open something up it ends up being a small patch instead of a whole wall.
How much does an emergency call out cost?
