What is an EV Ready Plan?
An EV Ready Plan is a comprehensive strategy for integrating electric vehicle charging into your multi-family property. At Townside Electric, we bundle this with the mandatory Electrical Planning Report (EPR) required by the BC Strata Act to ensure your building is fully compliant and future-proof.
Site Assessment
We conduct a thorough examination of your property's existing electrical infrastructure to gather wait data for a compliant EV Ready Plan and Electrical Planning Report, ensuring every detail is captured.
EPR Included
The BC Strata Act now mandates an Electrical Planning Report (EPR). By bundling this with your EV Ready Plan, we provide a more economical solution than purchasing separately, saving your strata significant costs.
Regulatory Compliance
Our plans guarantee compliance with BC Hydro’s rebate program and the BC Strata Act. We handle the entire process from evaluation to final implementation with enterprise-grade efficiency and expertise.
Is an EV Ready Plan really worth it?
Getting your building ready for electric cars saves you a lot of money later. You can get most of the cost paid for by the government right now, and new laws mean you will need a plan very soon anyway.
Think about the future of your building.
More and more people are buying electric cars every year. Making your building ready for them now helps keep your home valuable and makes it a place people really want to live. We make the whole plan for you so there is no stress and no big surprises for the strata council later on.

Get most of the cost back
The BC government will pay for most of your plan. They offer money back that covers up to 75% of the total cost. We will take care of all the paperwork for you to make sure you get every penny you are allowed to have.
Better value and new laws
New BC laws mean most buildings have to do an electrical report very soon. By doing your EV plan at the same time, you follow the law and make your property worth more money. It is a smart move that makes selling or renting much easier for everyone.

EV Planning Questions
Navigating BC's new electrical regulations can be complex. Here are clear, professional answers to the questions strata councils ask most often.
What exactly is an EV Ready Plan?
An EV Ready Plan is a professional technical document that outlines how a multi-unit residential building (MURB) will provide at least one EV-ready parking stall for every residential unit. It includes site assessments, electrical capacity reviews, and detailed cost estimates for future infrastructure upgrades.
Is an Electrical Planning Report (EPR) required by law in BC?
Yes. Recent amendments to the BC Strata Property Act now require most strata corporations in British Columbia to obtain a mandatory Electrical Planning Report (EPR) by December 31, 2026 (Metro Vancouver/Fraser Valley) or 2028 (other regions). We bundle this legal requirement with our EV Ready Plans for maximum value.
How much can our strata save with rebates?
Strata corporations can currently access rebates that cover up to 75% of the total cost of developing an EV Ready Plan, up to a maximum of $3,000. Townside Electric handles all the technical documentation and verification required to ensure your rebate application is successful.
How long does the entire planning process take?
A typical site assessment and comprehensive report development takes approximately 4 to 6 weeks. This timeline includes the initial consultation, on-site data gathering, technical analysis, and the final presentation of your EV Ready Plan and EPR to the strata council.
Why should we bundle the EV Ready Plan and EPR together?
It is significantly more cost-effective. Both reports require a professional site assessment and an analysis of your building's electrical capacity. By bundling them, we eliminate redundant work and provide both mandatory compliance and future-proof planning at a much lower total cost.
Does Townside Electric also handle the physical installation?
Yes. While the EV Ready Plan provides the necessary roadmap and technical specifications, Townside Electric is a full-service electrical firm. Once your plan is complete, we can provide detailed quotes for the physical installation of infrastructure, panels, and charging stations.
Who owns the EV Ready Plan once it is completed?
The strata corporation owns the completed reports. These documents are invaluable for AGMs, depreciation reports, and demonstrating proactive management to residents and potential buyers. They are also required for any future EV infrastructure rebate applications.
Will the site assessment disrupt our residents?
Minimal disruption occurs. Our licensed electricians primarily need access to the building's electrical rooms and parkades. We do not typically need to enter individual residential units. We coordinate closely with property management to ensure the process is smooth and quiet.
